What is Prayer?

Prayer is more than talking to God. It is more than asking God and thanking God for things. Prayer is personal, enjoyable, intentional communication with God. Prayer is a vital way we connect with God and with others.

Why do we Pray?

We pray because it is commanded (Luke 18:1). It is also to build a personal and intimate relationship with God, the end goal is to intentionally enjoy this communication (John 16:24). In doing so, God is honored and we come into a place to deepen our intimacy with Him, resulting in our total dependence on God. Which means we get to worship God (speaking true things about God); confess our shortcomings (to remind ourselves of His goodness, forgiveness, providence and patience); to thank God (for all the good He has/is/and will be working for our good); and bringing our needs/wants/desires before him (because God cares for us).
